Climate
Central Highlands. (Tharua & Ol Pejata)
The Central Highlands enjoy perhaps the most agreeable climate in Kenya. Temperatures range between 10 - 14 degrees at night and 22 - 28 degrees throughout the day. The long rains usually start mid October and finish December. The short rains are April.
July & August is usually dry but can be windy which brings the temperature down in the evening and early mornings. This makes riding much more pleasant but we recommend worm clothes.
Western Kenya. (Masai Mara) Throughout the year the lowlands of Western Kenya are hot and humid. Temperatures range between 14 - 18 degrees at night and 30 - 34 degrees throughout the day. The long rains are between March and May. The short rains are between November and December.
Northern Kenya. (Samburu & Lake Turkana) Northern Kenya can be very hot. Temperatures on the Plains can reach 40 degrees without a breath of wind. July to August are the driest months and also the coolest. November and March are the wettest months but are also the greenest.
The rainy seasons are a much quieter time for visiting, with green vegetation and plenty of game. We feel there is no bad time to visit us as every season brings a totally uniquie experience, the animals are wild and you just never know what you are going to see!
Itinerarys may change a little during the rainy season, this can make the driving much more exciting...!
