Riding in Ol Pejeta plus Meru 4x4 Safari

The cost of this 14 day safari is £1,850 per person. Please see our FAQ to see what is and what isn't included in the cost. A min of 4 people is required for this safari to run.

DAY 1
Transfer from Nairobi to Tharua by road through the beautiful Kikuyu highlands. An optional extra is to visit Daphne Sheldrake’s Elephant orphanage. The cost of this £20.

DAY 2.
Relax and enjoy a day at the farm. Early risers can watch the sun rise over the mountain, or go for a walk or lie in and spend a leisurely day around the pool and farm. A short ride to get accustomed to the horses and find some local game.

DAY 3.
A 15 minute drive to Solio Game Reserve to enjoy a day of Rhino watching. Solio boasts the highest concentration of rhino in the world. Picnic lunch under the yellow thorn acacia trees, watching the giraffe amble by.

DAY 4.
Ride or drive to Nyakio Primary school and be entertained by the children , they are very grateful for the support they have received from us and previous guests. All classrooms and a kitchen have been rebuilt, we also have 12 children sponsored for secondary school.

DAY 5/6/7.
Early breakfast and then set off on the horses to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, 3-4 hours of riding each day among Elephants, Rhino, Buffalo, Eland, Zebra, Giraffe, Lion, Cheetah and many more. Long leisurely picnic lunches and quiet peaceful afternoons in our private campsite beside the Ngobit river. Evening game drives in the land cruiser also included.

DAY 8.
A day to rest and relax at Tharua or maybe a trip to town for some local curios and lunch at the Trout Tree Restaurant.

DAY 9/10/11.
A 4 hour road journey to Meru Park, a true wilderness with breathtaking scenery and clear flowing rivers. The campsite has flushing toilets, showers and animals around the tents all day and night. Lions can often be heard roaring as you lie sleeping at night. Lesser Kudu and Gerenuk can be seen here as well as many buffalo, elephants, big cats and hippo's. Meru park is very diverse but has very few tourists!

DAY 12.
After breakfast we break camp and travel back to Tharua by road, arriving back with time for a relaxing swim before supper.

DAY 13.
A day to relax by the pool, have a massage for all those aching muscles or enjoy a walk in the local area.

DAY 14.
Return to Nairobi. we leave this open due to variation in flight times, but rest assured we won't let you get bored.

Our itinerary may vary due to road conditions etc.

If you wish to have a day to relax, feel the need for some retail therapy or if you do not wish to ride, the land rover can take you to the bush camps or fishing in the Aberdares can be arranged, or climbing Mount Kenya. You may even just like to sit and relax at the farm, just let us know. Don't treat this as just a holiday, it could be a life changing experience, it was for us!!
