Rift Valley & Masai Mara Itinerary

Tharua's latest itinerary consists of a few days at Tharua, the rest traveling through the beautiful Rift Valley then moving on to the Masai Mara. The cost of this is between £2000 & £2500 depending on the type of accommodation you wish to enjoy. A min of 4 people is required for this safari to run.

DAY 1
Arrive Nairobi am. Transfer by road to Tharua, driving through the beautiful Kikuyu Highlands, arriving in time for lunch. Relax, unpack ready for sundowners and supper in the roundhouse. Flying transfers to a nearby airstrip are also available at a cost of £50 per person.

DAY 2.
Relax and enjoy a day at the farm. Early risers can watch the sun rise over the mountain, go for a walk or lie in and spend a leisurely day around the farm. A short ride to get accustomed to the horses and find some local game.

DAY 3.
Visit Ol Pejeta conservancy or Solio Game Reserve, amongst thousand of game incl. elephants, rhino, ostrich, giraffe, baboon, zebra, all types of buck and all the big cats!.

DAY 4.
Visit to Nyakio Primary School which your holiday is helping to support. We have already built 4 new classrooms, and a new kitchen, with help from friends and guests. We also have two children sponsored for secondary school.

DAY 5.
A morning to relax around the farm, lunch at the Trout Tree Restaurant and an afternoon shopping at the Equator. (A true African experience you will never forget!)

DAY 6.
A leisurely drive through the beautiful Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha.

DAY 7.
Drive to Baringo Lake which is a change to take in the breath taking scenery of the Laikipia escarpment and the Kipsingower ridge. Once there you will have the day to relax around the lake or take a boat ride to see the Hippo's, Crocs and even Fish Eagles catching their pray!

DAY 8.
A trip to the beautiful Lake Bogoria where thousands of Flamingo gather. Around the lake there are hot springs with many geysers. Its also a change to see the Greater Kudu.

DAY 9/10/11.
Drive over the Mau Escarpment to the Masai Mara game reserve, camping beside either the Mara River, Talek River or the Sand river. (The exact location and accommodation type depends on the weather and your budget). You will get to spend 3 days enjoying this stunning landscape where big cats are in abundance. People joining us in July time get to experience the annual migration.

DAY 12.
Drive back to Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley and spend the night camping beside the lake.

DAY 13.
A day to relax by Lake Naivasha, or a walk to the beautiful Crater Lake

DAY 14.
Return to Nairobi . (We leave this open due to variation in flight times.) but rest assured we wont let you get bored.

For people wanting to ride, a 3 day riding option is available in the 1st week. This will mean one day less in the Rift Valley
