2011 - Sponsored Students.
Above are the 7 latest student to attend Sirima Secondary School - all 7 are able to attend secondary school because of the funding provided by the Nyakio School Children Trust.
Nyakio School Children Trust.
In Late 2010 Tharua have registered Nyakio School as the Nyakio Children's Trust within the UK, this means Nyakio School now qualifies for GIFT AID on all donations made by UK Tax Payers. This will help increase the funds available to the School and help to further educate the children we are supporting.
Nyakio Children's Trust would appreciate if all existing and future sponsors would complete this form so the trust can claim GIFT AID on your contribution.
Tree Planting Competition
Following the completion of fencing the whole school grounds, we ran a tree planting competition for the year 8 students. Each student had to look after several of the 1,000 new trees planted, this involved the student bringing water from a dam over 2km away. The competition was such a success that we treated all year 8 students to a safari in Ol Pejeta conservancy. As you can see from the pictures, a good time was had by all.
Clean Drinking Water.
We have recently completed the installation of two 10,000 water tanks and guttering on class rooms. The will mean that all students will have clean water to drink.
New Head Master. During 2008 Nyakio Primary School gained a new Headmaster (Robert). Robert has made a big difference to the school, and is liked by all. Tharua would like to thank him for all his hard work and hope he will continue to take the school forward.
